South Africa 1987 The Bible Society of South Africa.  40c. “The Word of God” with inscription in Greek and Hebrew.  South East corner example with number 5 in lower margin.  Superb unmounted mint condition.  These stamps were supplied to various South African Post Offices BEFORE the date of issue and, despite being instructed to withdraw the stamp because of religious objections, over 1500 copies were sold as well as a few Control Blocks and some First Day Covers.  The remainder were officially destroyed in Pretoria.  EXCEEDINGLY RARE.  (SACC 638)
