South Africa 1987 ‘The Bible Society of South Africa’.  40c. ‘The Word of God’ with inscriptions in Greek and Hebrew.  Top marginal example.  Superb unmounted mint condition.  This stamp was supplied to the various South African Post Offices BEFORE the date of issue and despite being instructed to withdraw the stamp because of religious objections, over 1500 copies were sold as well as a few Control Blocks and some First Day Covers.  The remainder was officially destroyed in Pretoria.  EXCEEDINGLY RARE AND SOUGHT AFTER THE WORLD OVER.
