St. Helena 1961 Queen Elizabeth II Tristan relief set of four. The stamps of Tristan da Cunha were Surcharged and overprinted ‘ST. HELENA Tristan Relief’ in St. Helena and sold in St. Helena to aid victims of the volcanic eruption which forced the evacuaution of the population of Tristan da Cunha to Pendell Army Camp in England. However, as ONLY the Colonial Office in London could Authorise new stamps, this issue was immediately withdrawn BUT 434 complete sets had already been sold to the public.
